Workout Specialist

Reviews delinquent loan applications to evaluate, classify, and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing by performing the following duties.Communicates with members regarding requested for credit extension, re-ages, modifications, and trouble debt restructuring loans.Examines documents such as application forms, credit reports, past payment history, and membership to determine degree of risk from such factors as applicant financial standing, business operations, loss experience, and value and condition of collateral.Determines whether to accept, modify, or decline requests.Calculates interest rates and terms of loan by using approved trouble debt restructuring policy and procedures.Works with management to develop or modify policy wording when exceptions to policy become excessive.Monitors all trouble debt restructuring loans and periodically evaluates possibility of losses.Reports all loans in trouble debt restructuring group to Manager and Senior Management on a monthly basis.Consults with collections manager to obtain further information, quote rates, or explanations of Rio Grande Credit Union underwriting policies.Works with collection agency regarding settlement of charged-off debt.Works with attorney regarding bankruptcy proceedings.Makes collection calls when necessary.Assist collections manger with projects. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma; Five years experience in collections or underwriting; Preferably experience working with workout or exception loans; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as loan agreements, policies, procedures and regulatory guidance. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of Rio Grande Credit Union. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
