The Benefits Consultant is responsible for providing administrative and consultative support for client defined contribution plans, employee benefit plan consulting, and research ! projects assigned to team member. This position monitors all retirement plan transactions on a daily, quarterly or annual basis and performs all recordkeeping duties necessary to report those transactions. Team member will serve as the primary client contact with limited supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide administration and consulting services relating to various types of defined contribution retirement plans, welfare plans, fringe benefit plans, and per capita plans. Such plans include:
Daily valuation and recordkeeping, to include annual accounting for retirement plans on a daily valuation platform
Balance forward administration, including quarterly and annual accounting for balance forward retirement plans
Coverage and nondiscrimination testing
Trust accounting and preparation of plan financial statements
Governmental return/report preparation
Assistance with documentation of procedures relatin! g to the Business Continuity Plan for the Employee Benefits de! partment
Assistance with documentation of procedures and assistance as needed, for the annual SOC 1 audit
Prepare and maintains benefit plan documents and provide technical research as needed in the areas specific to the department
Consult with clients and other team members on plan design options
Perform a quality control review of other team member’s work
Communicate directly (both written and orally) with clients, other service providers, attorneys and/or plan participants to resolve matters relating to plan administration
Participate as needed on task forces and special project teams
Implement new employee benefit programs for clients or coordinates the transfer of an existing benefit plan from other service providers
Establish strong internal and external networks with people within the industry or profession
Prepare benefit plan enrollment materials and conduct employee information pres! entations.
Perform other related duties such as: Coordinate maintenance of department intranet and/or internet sites, oversee department specific technology needs for hardware and/or software, maintain qualification status of benefit plan documents at prototype/volume submitter sponsor level
