Under direction of the assigned supervisor, perform professional level duties and functions associated with the treatment of substance abuse (drug and alcoh! ol). Will assist in providing comprehensive detoxification and treatment services to clients within the program. Will provide lead instruction to staff as needed and may serve as trainer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Obtain relevant information about clients through interview, assessment and case history; assist and support clients through addiction detoxification and recovery; observe, intervene and report client adherence to program goals and objectives.
Work in conjunction with other department staff to administer scheduled program curriculum and other activities utilized for treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse.
Gather and research data utilized to track the reliability and validity of treatment that has been provided; make recommendations regarding modification of services and service delivery.
Process new clients, i.e., issuance of clothing, orientation to the rules of facilities and assist clients with daily activities, ev! ents and informational literature.
Review files/recor! ds to insure accurate, updated documentation and provide written reports to program managers.
Transport clients to appointments and other service locations outside of assigned program.
Prepare and maintain statistical reports, case histories, maintain progress notes and document behavioral incidents through observation of clients and maintain confidential records. .
Participate in reviews of job performance and adhere to recommended measures for change.
Maintain security, order and discipline to prevent disturbances and insure the safety of residents, staff and community.
Assign, supervise and train personnel, as needed; serve as shift lead to insure shifts are fully staffed and to provide other supervisory support.
Maintain current knowledge base on counseling issues regarding substance abuse through conferences, educational training and networking with other agencies or groups.
Conduct and participate with tra! ining and staff development programs; assist in training and monitor staff facilitating groups.
Assure for appropriate shift transition to include client count, equipment and keys, staffing and required documentation.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.

Associate Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Criminology or related field, plus four (4) years experience working in substance abuse field, health care, or related setting, law enforcement, emergency management, corrections, or other related field OR any combination of post-secondary education and/or experience ! totaling six (6) years working in substance abuse field, health care or! related setting, law enforcement, emergency management, corrections or other related field.
Licensure as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA) preferred.
Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.
Must have knowledge of operations and activities of an addiction treatment program.
Must have knowledge of alcohol and substance abuse theory and treatment; knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
Must have knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to client rights.
Must have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with administration, subordinates and the general public.
Must have the ability to analyze situations in a rational, mature and confident manner and to remain calm under stressful situations.
Must have the ability to utilize discretion and independent judgment; ability to maintain confidentiality of client rec! ords at all times.
Must be skilled in the use of computers to generate reports and maintain records.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to write reports.
Must have the ability to operate a variety of office equipment.
Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred.

Working Conditions
Essential job duties are performed indoors in climate-controlled environment.
Primary work surface is even, dry, carpeted or tiled floor.
Works alone primarily, with or without directions. W! orks with groups and with a select team at times.
Equipment, T! ools and Materials
Telephone, typewriter, calculator, computer, fax machine, and copy machine are used in performance of essential job duties.
Various forms of paperwork are handled in performance of essential job duties .

Must be able to coordinate use of hands and eyes in operation of! equipment, such as computer and calculator.
