Lannan Foundation is a family foundation dedicated to the support and defense of cultural, artistic, ethnic, economic, social and political justice in an age ! when globalization policies threaten cultural freedom worldwide. We do this by funding exceptional creative writers and public intellectuals, artists, environmental and community activists, educators, public interest attorneys, as well as inspired Indigenous activists in rural native communities. We currently have four program areas: Literary, Indigenous Communities, Visual Arts, and Cultural Freedom. Cultural Freedom activities encompass grant making, fellowship and award programs, writers' residencies, and a lecture series, which currently range across a broad spectrum of issues including but not limited to: independent media and journalism; environmental protection and justice; income inequality; immigrant rights; US imperialism; the prison industrial complex; civil rights; education reform; gender equality; and domestic governmental secrecy and spying.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Cultural Freedom Program Director is responsible for all programmatic and admi! nistrative operations of the program. Lannan is looking for ca! ndidates with a deep interest in and commitment to social justice, knowledge of many of this program's interests and a willingness to accept and manage new challenges. A person with a creative imagination and initiative combined with strong research skills and analytic ability is the ideal candidate to expand and strengthen this program. As a practical matter, the successful candidate will be computer literate; possess effective communication skills (written, listening and speaking); be self-directed and able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; have strong planning, time-management and organization skills; be attentive to detail; be a team player; be flexible when faced with constantly changing priorities; and have a sense of humor.
EMPLOYMENT
Full-time position. Primary hours are Tuesday â€" Friday, 8:30am â€" 5:30pm. This salaried position will require additional hours to meet business needs, including some evenings and weekends.!
