Purpose of Position:
The purpose of the position is to provide legal representation to the Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) and to the different service areas as assigned by the General Counsel. This position provides legal guidance and review of protective services policies and procedures, provides research and legal counsel regarding immigration issues to CYFD programs and services, and manages a caseload of criminal background cases for which CYFD must decide to provide clearance to potential providers working with children.
This position is a Pay Band 80.

Minimum Qualifications:
Juri! s Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law and five (! 5) years of experience in the practice of law.
Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. A pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Statutory Requirements:
Licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license, which requires graduation from an accredited school of law, licensure (in good standing) in another state and sitting for the next eligible State Bar exam.
