High School education (GED) required. A minimum of three years experience in claims processing including adjustments is required, or relevant exp! erience with subrogation activities. Must have knowledge of Coordination of Benefit (COB) determination. Experience in collections helpful. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone and in writing. Requires good organizational skills, the ability to analyze reports and system process. Microsoft Word and Excel experience is essential
Primary Job Functions
Responsible for the review and evaluation of claims information and reports to identify potential subrogation cases in order to assert PHP's right to recover on paid claim dollars. Develops and initiates activities to establish, monitor, and collect subrogation dollars. Works with the department Legal Assistant (Subrogation Specialist) to respond to requests from attorneys, providers, members, and insurance representatives
Reviews and evaluates new subrogation files, including investigation to determine availability and appropriateness of subrogation and prepares and! distributes claim history summaries and notification letters ! to members, providers, insurance representatives, and attorneys within established timeframes.
Reviews and evaluates existing subrogation files, including investigation to determine availability and appropriateness of subrogation and maintains periodic contact with attorneys, members, and insurance representatives, as needed, regarding status of open subrogation claims within established timeframes. Prepares and distributes claim history summaries and notification letters to members, providers, insurance representatives, and attorneys within established timeframes.
Reviews claim information and reports to identify potential subrogation cases. Sends questionnaires when appropriate. Enters information in the subrogation database and FACETS member notes.
