Description: California State Personnel Board is hiring TAX COUNSEL III (SUPERVISOR) right now, this vacancy will be placed in California. Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel, Appeals Division, the Tax Counsel III (Supervisor) supervises a staff of attorneys and auditors. Duties of the Tax Counsel III (Supervisor) may include: training of staff; managing of case inventory and assignments; reviewing cases in all tax programs; making recommendations for the most complex cases at all levels; acting as liaison with the Attorney General in litigation cases; handling the most complex busine! ss taxes petitions and claims for refund; reviewing the decisi! ons and recommendations of the Tax Counsel III (Specialist)’s, Tax Counsels, Business Taxes Specialist II’s, and Business Taxes Specialist III’s in all tax programs; and assisting the Assistant Chief Counsel of the Appeals Division. This position may be required to travel overnight and throughout the state up to 10% of the time.
The position is located in a high-rise building. More than one position may be available.
