This position is located in the Division of Administrative Services, Business Office, Patient Registration/Admission Department, Pueblo Pintado Clinic, Pueblo Pintado, NM. Please ensure you answer all questions and follow all instructions carefully. Errors or omissions may impact your rating or result in you losing consideration for the job.
Interviews patients and/or family members to obtain pertinent and accurate patient registration information; i.e., demographic, alternate resource information and authorization to enable the Service Unit to bill for health care services, including the Non-Beneficiary services.
Obtains photocopies of legal documents regarding adoption, power of attorney and name changes. Checks! in and makes appointments for patient using the current service unit s! cheduling system with various clinics throughout the service unit.
Operates personal computers, data processing equipment, and/or office support software for different types of word processing, data entry, or data retrieval.
Assists patients in completing new or updated forms. Works in stressful situations; deals with a variety of people who may be angry or upset and complaining about processes and procedures. Completes admissions forms for scheduled admissions from information provided by the patient and by the referring provider.
Verifies eligibility with assistance, Identifies patients with health benefits, Determines eligibility of patients seeking health care. Ensures patient understands the fair entitlement of IHS/non IHS facilities. Communicates and assists Contact Representatives in obtaining prescreens and/or applications. BASIC QUALIFICATION : For GS-04: Candidates must have had 52 weeks of general e! xperience equivalent to at least the GS-03 level to qualify for the GS-04 grade level. For GS-05: Candidates must have had 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent
to at least the GS-04 level to qualify for the GS-05 level. GS-06: Candidate must have had 52 weeks of
specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level to qualify for
the GS-06 grade level.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge,
skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the
position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To
be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the
next lower grade level. Examples of the type of experience that will be
credited are: planning and carrying out the work of the office such as;
providing patient registration and eligibility services, process demographic
and in! surance information of alternate resources, procedures or operations an! d
the use of automated systems equipment.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE : For GS-04, successfully completed two years above high school is
qualifying. For GS-05, successfully completed four years above high school
level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the
normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited
business, secretarial or technicial school, junior college, college or
university. For GS-06 and above, education is not
creditable.
PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS : Applicants must present evident passing the typing proficiency from a
school or other organizations authorized to issue such certification (40) WPM
typing speed. WPM are based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors.
TYPING PROFICIENCY MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION.
Certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years from date of issuan! ce.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS : Federal status applicants must have completed at least 52 weeks of
service in a position no more than one grade lower than the position to be
filled. If selected under the Excepted Service Examining Plan, individuals may
be appointed without regard to time-in-grade requirements.
