Purpose of Position
The successful applicant will represent the State Land Office and the Commissioner of Public Lands in complex real estate transactions involving commercial and natural resources law. Position will also advise the Commissioner of Public Lands and State Land Office staff regarding land use issues as well as federal, state and local law. The chosen applicant will assist in rulemaking and administrative/human resources legal matters. The position also requires the ability to represent the Commissioner in litigation at all levels.

This position is a Pay Band 80.

Classification Description:
Lawyers-Advanced

Minimum Qualifications:
Ju! ris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law and five! (5) years of experience in the practice of law.

Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Statutory Requirements:
Licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license, which requires graduation from an accredited school of law, licensure (in good standing) in another state and sitting for the next eligible State Bar exam.
