Sandia National Laboratories is searching for a Manager for the Operational Innovation Office in the Mission Support & Corporate Governance Center at our Albuquerque, NM facility. The candidate selected for this opportunity will be required to obtain and maintain a DOE-granted, âQ-levelâ security clearance. Security clearance is not required to start.
Department Description
The Integrated Mission Support (IMS) Program Office manages and supports the IMS program to proactively participate in Sandiaâs mission succ! ess by âdelivering high quality, sustainable, and affordable! infrastructure systems and servicesâ. The Operational Innovation Office drives increased integration and efficiencies across Sandia by exploring opportunities, benchmarking and researching outside of Sandia, gathering ideas at all levels of the organization, providing tools, measures, and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) services, and communicating and marketing results for continuous improvement of Sandiaâs business model.
Job Summary
Oversees and manages members of the workforce within the department. Coordinates subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition and disciplinary actions. Ensures that customer needs are satisfied by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements. Balances the acquisition and development of staff resources, capabilities, and existing and future projects or programs.
Primar! y Job Duties
The Operational Innovation Group in the Mission Support & Corporate Governance Center is seeking a Manager to provide leadership to the Lean Six Sigma (LSS), and Lockheed Martin (LM) Relations Department. The manager must be passionate about improving Sandia's performance through the use of LSS methodology to eliminate waste, improve quality, establish a culture of continuous improvement, and provide best value to the customer. The manager must be enthusiastic about managing and improving the LM Relations Program which includes parent company reach-back and technology partnerships, and integrating the reach-back with the LSS and Operational Innovation activities. The manager should understand, and be experienced with, the LSS methodology, live by the lean principles of continuous improvement and respect for people, have demonstrated improvements across a broad range of areas (products and processes), have credibility in the Black Belt community, and have an! understanding of NNSA and Sandia policies, practices, and processes. T! he manager needs to have strong oral and written communication skills, should be able to influence customers to model the behaviors and attitudes of Lean leaders, and should be able to influence teams and individuals who are not direct reports. The manager should have demonstrated skills in team building and in leading others to improve business and technical processes.

Oversees and manages members of the workforce, within the organization, including hiring, professional development, and assessment and performance management, consistent with mission of the organization.
Counsels and assists employees and management on government legislation, U.S. Department of Energy contract compliance, and Sandia National Laboratories' policies or procedures to ensure compliance.
Manages the response to customer requirements and applies judgment based on these requirements to define and establish metrics to ensure delivery of products on time and within budget.
Manages the synthesis and understanding of requirements and devises methods to ensure that requirements are met.
Investigates relevant industrial standards and benchmarks continual improvement of processes and products.
Manages audits, assessments, and evaluations of system elements and determines proper corrective and preventi! ve actions.
Manages the analysis of failures and performs cause ana! lysis to address process, and product related concerns.
Applies quality concepts to the design and implementation of processes, procedures, metrics, tools, and techniques throughout the quality management system.
Provides quality engineering expertise for system sustainment and improvement.
