PRODUCTION MANAGER

Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of cheese production areas in processing raw materials and manufacturing customer specific products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.! They will have Team Leaders report to them and the position will report to plant manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
1.Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
2.Establishes production priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
3.Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
4.Optimize production operations through the strategic management of personnel, operational and mechanical
resources.
5.Ensure safety within the day to day operations.
6.Reviews production and operating reports and assists in resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
7.Inspects machines and equipment to ensure! specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
9.Implements standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
10.Monitors hiring, training of new hires, employee morale and development.
11.Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages employees in the Cheese Supervisor position. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly manages non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in F! ood Science or related area from four-year College or University strongly preferred. Two to three years supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
