Description: New Mexico State Personnel Office is at present looking to employ Deputy General Counsel (NMCD/ASD #15805) right now, this occupation will be ordered in New Mexico. Purpose of Position: The purpose of this position is to represent the New Mexico Corrections Department in defense of various civil suits and legal actions, as well as provide interpretation of judgments and sentences of offenders sentenced to New Mexico Corrections Department custody.
This position is a Pay Band 80.

Classification Description:
Lawyers-Advanced

Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law and five (5) years of experience in the practice of law.

Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation a! nd is conditional pending results.

Statutory Requi! rements:
Licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license, which requires graduation from an accredited school of law, license (in good standing) in another state and sitting for the next eligible State Bar exam.
