The purpose of this position is to provide legal representation to the New Mexico Environment Department in administrative and judicial proceedings and to provide legal counsel and advice to the Cabinet Secretary, Division Directors and Bureau Chiefs in all legal matters that come before them. Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $29.61 per hour.

This position is a Pay Band 75.

Classification Description:
Lawyers-Operational

Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law and three (3) years of experience in the practice of law.

! Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain! a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.

Statutory Requirements:
Licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license, which requires graduation from an accredited school of law, licensure (in good standing) in another state and sitting for the next eligible State Bar exam.
