SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this position that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform.
Typically, we would find this experience in work within this field that is closely related.
To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07, pay band or equivalent.
Specialized experience
is described as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field.
This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities.
Work must have involved a close working re! lationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.
FOR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION:
I have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
to the skills of the position, i.e., m
ajor study of hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration,
and provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills! , and abilities to successfully perform the work of the position.

Federal Time-In-Grade
(TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of and skills in general management, organizational principles, and practices of credentialing and privileging to analyze, evaluate, advise and coo! rdinate all aspects of the credentialing process.
2. Knowledge of the credentials function, procedures, instructions/guidelines/directives, precedents, and the ability to apply the requirements to assess capabilities and compliance regarding credentialing and privileging.
3. Knowledge of research and analytical concepts, statistical methods and techniques commonly used to evaluate individual and organizational performance to insure performance based privileging of the professional medical staff.
4. Knowledge of individual state medical boards, national medical certifying boards, and other agency requirements regarding licensing and certification.
5. Ability to analyze, identify, and resolve complex problems or unusual situations regarding the credentials and privileging process.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experienc! e will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate a! ctivities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

Work occasionally requires travel away fro! m the normal duty station to attend an annual AF-wide quality symposium and/or periodic JCAHP conferences.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate level security clearance as a condition of employment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
:
Requires walking throughout the facility as well as the VA facility for personnel contact, sitting for extended periods of time at desk or computer, attending meetings, standing, bending, reaching, and stooping to utilize filing cabinets and normal activity.
Could be required to lift 30-35 pound boxes of credential files, lifting boxes of computer paper as routine task, supplies, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The normal work environment is a typical office setting that is properly secured (credentials are maintained IAW AF Instruction in a lockable area at all times), lighted, and temperature controlled.
The incumbent must perform a portio! n of duties utilizing various types of automated computer terminals and! software.
