Purpose of Position:
The purpose of the position is to review and make recommendations on water right applications in basins administered by the District I Office, the position insures consistency in accordance with state law and rules and regulations of the Office of the State Engineer; monitoring permit holders, ensuring compliance with permit conditions, processes water right related documents, and provides customer service related to water right issues. This position reviews historical documents and interprets aerial photography to evaluate the validity of water rights, reviews proposed action for compliance with relevant statutory requirements and review of permit! compliance status of pertinent permits. Post permitting requi! res addressing compliance issues involving site visits. The position provides guidance to junior engineers and other technical staff, serves as an expert witness for the Office of the State Engineer and will coordinate with the assigned state attorney in cases where applications are protested or aggrieved and public presentations may be required.

This position is a Pay Band 75.

Classification Description:
Engineers Specialist, All Other (NL)-Operational

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Water Resources, or Physical Science and four (4) years relevant experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
