Para Los Niños is a specialized child sexual abuse assessment center, and receives referrals from all counties of New Mexico under both state and tribal jurisdictions. Para Los Niños provides medical ev aluations for children and adolescents who have been sexually abused/assaulted on both an emergency and scheduled appointment basis. The Para Los Niños program is seeking an on-call Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner) who is motivated and committed to providing medical evaluations for children and adolescents with concerns of sexual abuse and/or sexual assault. The Advanced Practice Provider will complete medical records and case report forms, interact with law enforcement, social work agencies, district attorney's offices, testify in court, and work with diverse communities in New Mexico.
The successful candidate will provide specialty care services including screening/assessments, anticipatory guidance, health education, medical examinations, case management, and referrals. On the job training is provided. Bilingual skills are preferred. Applicants must possess the ability to empathize with diverse ethnic and cultural populations, and be comfortable wit h a high degree of autonomy while collaborating with supervising physicians and maintaining a team environment. - CPR Certified.
- May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
- UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Subject to credentialing process; must maintain credentialed status.
- Must maintain certification status.
Bachelor's degree; no previous expe rience required. Certification/Licensure Eligible for New Mexico certification as a Physician's Assistant OR State of New Mexico Certified Nurse Practitioner or certification pending, as documented by temporary certificate.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Knowledge of child abuse reporting and confidentiality laws
- Knowledge of sexual abuse/assault issues
- Knowledge of clinical operations and medical terminology
- Ability to perform colposcopies
- Experience in preparing and maintaining patient medical records and case reports
- Experience working with pediatrics patients
- Bilingual â" Spanish/English preferred
