For detail informations about this job opportunity please read the description below. Insurance Company seeks Regional Director of Counsel with 8 years of litigation practice experience. The candidate will report directly to the Vice President of Claim Legal Operations. Will be responsible for the oversight of the company's Western Region's staff law offices (WA, OR, CA, AZ, NM, NV & CO) as they engage in the practice of law. Work to establish a partnership culture with the Claim centers and staff counsel offices within the region.
Will help to ensure that all professional and ethical obligations are met. Will be ultimately accountable for the coaching, development and mentoring of region staff; efficient operations; excellent service to insured and claim business partners; functional proficiency of staff counsel; cost containment of legal services; and achievement of business goals. Responsibilities: Establishes a partnership culture and relationship between Claim line of business and Staff Counsel in the region. Ensures that the offices/attorneys are engaged in the ethical and professional practice of law.
Provides leadership and direction to Managing Attorneys to ensure execution of vision, strategies and policies of the Claim Strategic Services organization. Participates in the development of the organization's Operating Plan and ensures its execution in the Regional Staff Law Offices. Negotiates deals and business transactions favorable to the company's short- and long-term interests while operating in a way that maintains relationships. Monitors progress and analyzes data to suggest and implement cost containment initiatives.
Conducts comprehensive audits of Staff law Offices, as assigned. Effectively drive the implementation of technological solutions that support business needs. Hires, evaluates and mentors Managing Attorneys and effectively manages performance. Plans for succession and appropriate staffing levels.
Create and foster an environment in which people want to work and can thrive in the midst of constant challenges. Interacts effectively with diverse people outside formal lines of authority to influence change and accomplish organizational goals. Create organizational objectives and performance metrics regarding office productivity, suit disposition, expense controls, professional proficiency, and other critical dimensions of financial, functional and operational performance. Participate in projects impacting the entire Staff Legal organization.
As assigned, conduct special research, complete projects, serve on special committees, participate in roundtable discussions involving major litigation, and other job-related duties. A Juris Doctor Degree and license to practice required. Should be a member in good standing of all state and federal Bars where attorney has been admitted. Worker's Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Insurance knowledge required.
Insurance industry experience preferred. Experience and credibility as a leader in an environment where the ability to influence and build relationships is critical. Should have deep understanding of the business, challenges, needs and expectations of customers in the market segment and/or territory. Strong knowledge of the local marketplace including producers, end buyers, economic and business trends, competitors, legal and regulatory environment required.
