Basic Function: Review, investigate, evaluate, adjust and promptly dispose of personal and commercial auto, real property, medical (includes minor bodily injury claims)! , and Kansas Personal Injury Protection (PIP) claim payments (where applicable, that do not require field investigation). Project a professional image of Farm Bureau by fairly and efficiently negotiating and settling claims with all customers. Assist in training claim personnel as requested. At times, may be required to assist with taking FNOL (First Notice of Loss with Direct Reporting Unit) during high volume loss reporting periods.Essential Functions: Contribute to the financial success of Farm Bureau by effectively determining if losses are covered under the terms of an existing policy by reviewing police reports and verifying applicable insurance coverage. Project a positive image of Farm Bureau by fairly and efficiently negotiating and settling assigned claims with all customers. Assist in training and motivation of first level FNOL team, Claim Service Representatives, inside Appraisers and other support personnel regarding claims handling procedures. Take FNOL during! high volume claim periods. Ensure that management has accurat! e claim information by properly investigating loss claims by calling or writing insureds, claimants, agents, and witnesses; ordering, police reports; engaging services of appraisers, and referring claims to District Claim Manager or Administrator for outside investigation if necessary. Assure claims are settled in accordance with regulations, statutes and policy language by reviewing bills and estimates submitted for accuracy, necessity and reasonableness. Consider services rendered charges allowable and acceptable customary charges in area. Approve and issue payments. Adjusts or denies claims, considering deductible amounts, depreciation, policy limits, etc. Negotiates and explains decisions to insureds, claimants, agents, etc. as necessary. Settles first party claims as well as third party property claims. Maintains professional and productive relationships with agents, agency managers, policyholders, claimants, doctors, attorneys and others so to bring credit to the clai! ms department and company. Keep a service-oriented attitude at all times. Cooperate with departments to insure the aims and objectives of Farm Bureau are achieved. Set priorities and plan to insure the aims and objectives of Farm Bureau are achieved. Prepare running notes/documentation, written reports, salvage disposal documentation in accordance with established procedures. Identify candidates for subrogation and initiate subrogation with first notice to adverse party. Respond to and may work with Subrogation staff regarding arbitration contentions.
Four years relevant experience required. Two years of college or equivalent preferred. INS (Certificate in General Insurance) required. Must keep up-to-date regarding the Unfair Claims Practice Act (Rule 60), policy knowledge, and other governmental or company rules and regulations. Ability to exercise independent judgment and arrive at decisions through sound, logical reasoning. Must be PC literate and be able to interpre! t CICS and effectively use workflow. Familiarity with Windows (Lotus No! tes and Excel). Some travel to attend training schools required. A valid drivers license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Bilingual language skills helpful. Oral and written communication skills as appropriate to this position. Reasonably regular and predictable attendance.
