The primary purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically having a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds. Drives over public roads (or equivalent) in a full range of traffic conditions and at highway speeds to transport cargo. Operates buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers on public roads in a full range of traffic conditions and at highway speeds. Also operates for lifts to facilitate cargo loading/unloading.
Drives tractor-trailers and/or other vehicles typically having a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds. Operates vehicles to transport supplies, materials, equipment, and/or tools.
Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lift trucks to facilitate loading and unloading duties.
Drives one or more types of passenger buses which carry 16 or more passengers. Drives p! redetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs.
Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation. Maintains records and documents actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas
:
1. Knowledge of the operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of up to and over 32,000 pounds such as truck tractors with semi or full trailers, heavy load in-line trucks, or interstate motor coaches.
2. Knowledge of cargo handling and hauling and techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo.
3. Knowledge of traffic and safet! y regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and fork lift operation.
4. Knowledge of operating one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lifts.
5. Knowledge of operating buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers.
6. Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read maps to determine the shortest and safest route; interpret instructions, specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle, fork lift, and power take-off unit operation and preventive maintenance; and meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE
:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
:
An appropriate, valid Commercial DriverÂ's License (CDL) with proper endorsements is req! uired for the position.
Position requires the ability to disce! rn colors, contrast, and depth.
The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Shift work may be required.
This is a drug testing designated position.
The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
1. Physical effort is moderate to heavy.
Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
Associated duties require stooping, bending, and climbing.

Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier objects with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Drivers work mostly outside and operate vehicles in all kinds of traffic and weather on public roads (or equivalent), and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
2.
Drivers are exposed to dirt, fumes, and to the possibility of cut! s, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle.
3.
They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
